A worker with Médecins Sans Frontières, also known in English as Doctors Without Borders, has joined a host of other Nigerians to mourn the loss of former Nigerian president, Shehu Shagari, who died on Friday, December 28th, after a brief illness.
Ibrahim Ashafura, took to Facebook to reveal that he was supposed to take care of Shehu Shagari on the day he died as he shared a picture of him looking after the ex-president.
He wrote; Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun. May your gentle soul rest in paradise. I was supposed to take care of you today. I still can’t believe you are gone. Shehu Usman Shagari. Former President.
Shehu Shagari died at the age of 93 at the National hospital in Abuja. His demise was announced on twitter by his grandson, Bello Shagari.
Bello wrote, ”I regret announcing the death of my grandfather, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who died right now after brief illness at the National hospital, Abuja.”
